Now
that Wave 2 of the 6" Staction figures from NECA
and the Four
Horsemen have arrived, Emiliano Santalucia
has put together another set of wallpapers using his artwork
and NECA's graphics from the back of the Wave 2 packaging.
Three sizes are available to fit most desktop dimensions.
And as a special treat, Odiphus is also included
in the set. He may not have come with Stinkor
in Wave 2, but at least you can have him on your computer.
We hope you like them!
And don't forget,
you can still get them for the AFX preorder price of 53.99
for the entire set of three. Click

Answers
to long awaited questions are here!
For those who remember, He-Man.org use to do a Q&A session
with Mattel
called What the Fans Want to Know. The last
WTFWTK, version 10.0, was put together this past spring and
it sought to answer a lot of final questions fans had about
the new MOTU line. Now that the smoke has cleared and things
have calmed down at Mattel's main offices, we have gotten
answers to our questions. An anonymous source, far up the
corporate Mattel ladder, and who also used to work with the
now defunct MOTU brand team, took time to respond.
It may not be what some of you wanted to hear, but at least
we get answers to some questions that have been in the backs
of our minds since the new toy line ceased production.
1.
Is there
any hope
of reviving
interest
for MotU
inside Mattel?
Yes,
a number
of people
at Mattel
still feel
strongly
about Masters.
But we are
not actively
working
on or focused
on it right
now.
2.
Is Mattel
actively
seeking
a DVD distributor
for the
Mike Young
Productions
MotU series?
Most
definitely.
We still
have high
hopes for
a release
of the new
Masters
cartoon
on DVD.
3.
What, if
anything,
can you
tell us
about the
MotU movie
being
directed
by John
Woo?
Unfortunately,
there's
nothing
to report
on this
at this
time. Sorry.
4.
If such
a movie
became a
reality,
would Mattel
look at
reviving
action figures
and/or other
merchandise?
Would new
figures
be the
existing
line or
a completely
new direction?
Absolutely.
We would
develop
a full program
of toys
and licensing
behind any
new entertainment
venture
for Masters.
5.
Are the
action figures
on hiatus
or cancelled?
It
depends
on if you
consider
"on
hiatus"
to be the
same as
"cancelled."
For us,
it is on
hiatus until
something
else happens
in the future
for Masters.
It's difficult
to say if
the new
line is
cancelled
because
a new entertainment
avenue for
Masters
(such as
a new movie)
may allow
for the
return of
the 2001
toy line
and/or cartoon
in some
fashion.
So we don't
like to
rule anything
out.
6.
Mattel reps
have mentioned
the possibilities
of selling
directly
to fans
via a collector's
club, what,
if anything,
could be
done by
the fans
to make
this a reality?
Monetary
investments?
Sponsors?
Please,
we want
to know.
Different
departments
at Mattel
handle different
duties for
a brand.
The combination
of investments
and sponsorship
behind a
Masters
specific
Collector's
Club is
something
that would
require
multiple
departments,
as well
as company
resources.
It would
be a significant
event.
So, I'm
afraid we
couldn't
provide
any answers
on this.
Sorry.
7.
Many fans
would still
like to
know "what
would have
been".
Can you
release
any photos,
sketches,
designs,
or plans
that were
in the
works but
did not
see the
light of
day?
There
was a script
that was
created
for episode
40 of the
new Masters
cartoon.
**He-man.org
note: An
earlier
interview
with Mattel
Entertainment's
Ian Richter
also revealed
this might
be a DVD
extra if
a DVD release
of the new
cartoon
ever happened.**
This was
for the
first episode
of season
3. But since
ratings
never reached
the mark
needed to
keep the
show going,
it never
saw the
light of
day.
We had high
hopes season
3 would
happen,
hence the
multiple
open ended
plot lines
at the end
of Season
2.
In terms
of photos,
sketches,
designs
and plans,
there is
nothing
we can reveal
to the public.
Most of
what you'd
see has
already
been revealed
by the Four
Horsemen
with their
new 6"
statue line,
though.
8.
The toy
line continued
internationally
for a while
and seemed
to
do fairly
well. Is
Mattel looking
at continuing
the line
internationally
because
of this?
What about
the cartoon
series for
the rest
of the world?
We
don't have
any plans
to continue
these internationally
in the immediate
future.
If anything
happens,
it would
be reviewed
for a worldwide
release
which includes
the US.
The new
toy line
did very
well in
certain
countries,
but those
sales were
not strong
enough to
pay for
the development
of more
cartoon
episodes.
9.
Is Mattel
still offering
MotU as
a brand
for licensing
to other
companies
(for merchandise
such as
books, apparel,
etc)?
Currently
only to
NECA for
the Four
Horsemen's
busts and
statues.
10.
Does Mattel
agree with
fans that
the over-abundance
of He-Man
and
Skeletor
versions
and variants
caused the
demise of
the line?
Batman
and Harry
Potter appearing
to struggle
in the marketplace
also
supports
the bad
case ratio
theory.
Variants
were never
a problem
in terms
of sales.
Only some
case mixes
were an
issue, primarily
Smash Blade
He-Man and
Spin Blade
Skeletor.
Through
various
reliable
means, we
found out
too far
into the
release
of the Masters
line that
there was
more Collector
appeal than
Child appeal.
But our
business
is a Child
appeal business,
and sales
from this
demographic
were required
to keep
the brand
strong as
Collectors
only make
up a portion
of toy sales
in mass
retail accounts.
Batman is
currently
having no
struggles.
And we feel
that collectors
can now
agree that
we now do
a good job
managing
case mixes
(see Justice
League).
11.
Does Mattel
plan on
using the
hype surrounding
the
highly-anticipated
"He-Man
and the
Masters
of the Universe"
classic
cartoon
series from
Filmation
to launch
any other
MotU merchandise?
We
have no
plans for
this. Sorry.
12.
Any plans
for the
commemorative
series?
And how
well did
the perform?
There
are no more
plans for
the Commemorative
line.
13.
Will the
success
of the Four
Horsemen/NECA
6"
statue line
have
any baring
on Mattel's
future plans
for the
brand?
No,
it will
have no
baring.
Not without
Entertainment
to help
reach a
wider audience.
14.
Is it possible
to get a
finale to
the 200X
cartoon
series for
a
direct to
DVD release?
There
are no plans
for this.
Sorry.
15.
We had already
heard of
Mattel's
plans for
a Snake
Mountain
play
set and
a Windrader
vehicle.
How far
did those
plans progress?
Snake
Mountain
did not
get far
past discussion.
Wind Raider
made it
all the
way to model.
No photos
of the model
are available.
16.
Would Mattel
consider
making the
MYP series
Bible available
to fans?
We'll
look into
it, but
we can make
no guarantees
at this
time. If
the new
series comes
to DVD,
this might
be a possibility.
17.
Can you
tell us
any answers
to mysteries
left hanging
in the new
cartoon?
Were Randor
and Keldor
related?
Who really
was Teela's
father?
etc
We
have no
plans to
reveal this,
as we still
have hopes
for the
future of
this brand
and we don't
want to
risk revealing
any potential
story lines.
18.
Retailers
(specificly
Toys 'R'
Us and Wal-Mart)
explicitly
stated
that MotU
product
they had
ordered
was not
provided
by Mattel
during
2003. Toys
'R' Us representatives
even sited
this as
a reason
for
dropping
the line.
Could you
explain
what happened?
This
isn't true.
As a whole,
the brand
did not
sell enough
to be of
significant
interest
to retail
accounts.
We can't
speak for
individual
stores,
where Masters
may have
had more
success
than others.
It all goes
back to
the retail
account
as a whole
and how
they ordered
the product
from us.
19.
Mattel stated
at the 2003
summer Conventions
that above
retailers
were supportive
of the Snakemen
branch of
the toy
line, and
yet many
did not
receive/stock
them. Why?
Please
see the
previous
answer about
how retailers
ordered
product.
In the spring
of that
year, retailers
were supportive
of the release
of these
toys seen
at the convention.
But then
when sales
figures
were analyzed
that summer
from previous
assortments,
retail accounts
no longer
supported
the release
of those
figures.
20.
After the
over abundance
of Smash/Spin
blade He-Mans
and
Skeletors,
what took
Mattel so
long to
correct
the problem?
It
takes time
for these
kinds of
problems
to be fixed.
When we
fix assortments,
we still
have to
wait for
retailers
to sell
through
previously
ordered
assortments.
We also
adjusted
ratios for
new upcoming
assortments,
but still
had to wade
through
the preorder,
production,
shipment
and then
sales cycle
that had
already
taken place
for the
next wave.
It takes
about a
year from
the time
ratios are
fixed until
you see
the fix
widespread
in retail
outlets.
This is
why the
assortments
later on
were better
ratios.
21.
if Mattel
is not interested
in producing
any more
MotU action
figures,
why not
allow NECA
and the
Four Horsemen
to do so
for the
collector's
market that
Mattel has
little or
no interest
in? Fans
are privy
to the knowledge
that NECA
was even
willing
to leave
the
packaging
devoid of
their company
name and
present
it as a
Mattel
toy, which
seems extremely
beneficial
to Mattel.
NECA
has been
great to
work with.
The license
they currently
hold is
what we
ended up
agreeing
on.
22.
If Mattel
has no more
interest
in continuing
toys for
the MotU
brand, why
not have
loosened
the restrictions
on the MotU
comic to
keep the
brand alive
in another
capacity?
We
still had
plans for
cartoon
entertainment
for the
brand. In
order to
preserve
those plans,
we did not
want to
move forward
with other
plans in
other entertainment
areas.
23.
Many fans
report potential
customers
were never
aware of
the new
MotU revamp.
Is Mattel
aware that
advertising
for this
line was
less
than effective?
Do they
plan to
address
this with
other lines
in future?
We
had a significant
budget for
advertisement
which was
utilized
to the fullest.
But it goes
beyond advertising.
It had more
to do with
ratings
of the cartoon
show and
how that
reflected
on toy sales.
24.
What, if
anything,
has Mattel
learned
from this
experience?
Never
develop
a case-heavy
Smash Blade
Batman or
Spin Blade
Superman.

BCI
has information on where you can purchase the upcoming He-Man
& She-Ra: A Christmas Special on DVD this December
6th.
Here's what BCI has to say!
"Since
the Christmas Special DVD will be hitting stores close to
the holidays, and the fact that there are some huge “major
studio” releases on that date, and the fact that certain
large retailers don’t realize that this title will have
life on the shelves even after December 25, some
key major retailers will not be carrying it in their
stores.
So here is a list of where you can buy the He-Man

Both retailers told us they just didn’t have room for
it that late in the holiday season with all the other releases
they had to find room for. Our sincere apologies for not being
able to get it into these retailers. We hope you will understand
we did everything we could. Trust us when we say the retailers
listed above will have plenty. Best Buy will clearly have

The
MVCreations
fundraising auctions are officially over.
Over the course of a year, the He-Store has been depleted,
the MVCreations studio and its possessions are no more, and
nearly everything owned by Val Staples was auctioned off to
fans to help raise money.
Thanks to your help, we were able to raise a little over 37,000.00
which went to help pay MVCreations artists caught in the lurch

This went a long way in helping alleviate the 80,000.00 in
artist debt, which Val Staples will continue to pay off with
his freelance design.

Some
fans have reported purchasing Season 1 Volume 1 DVD boxsets
with damaged discs.
BCI has issued the following statement with a solution to
the problem:
"Dear
He-Man Fans:
We
at BCI have been thrilled about the positive reviews and endorsements
received for the Season 1 Volume 1 boxset. We all worked very
hard to deliver the best quality possible on these sets. And,
we will always strive to give you the best quality and customer
service possible for our products.
So
we hope everyone can imagine our disappointment when we received
reports that a portion of the sets that have been shipped
have been damaged on their way to retailers. The Season 1
Volume 1 box set was suppose to use the same type of digipak
tray found in the 10 Best set. Unfortunately, unknown to us
during production, a different type of digipak tray was used
and then shipped for the Season 1 Volume 1 sets. This tray,
on some sets, has a slightly protruding form spot that can
cause scratches on underside of the discs. Our product samples
came straight from the supplier and were in the best of condition,
thus we were not able to catch this defect. The use of this
new type of tray was not our decision, and we have instructed
our supplier to cease its use on any further packages of any
type distributed by BCI!
In the meantime, let us assure you that the vast majority
of discs, including those with minor visible scratches, are
demonstrating 100% playability. For those discs that do not
work or that display scratches that appear critical in nature,
BCI WILL EXCHANGE THOSE DISCS DIRECTLY FROM THEIR OFFICES
AT NO CHARGE TO YOU. Simply email us at info@bcieclipse.com
with the nature of the scratches and the discs that need exchanging.
Please
be sure to e-mail us directly. While we'd love to speak to
every fan directly on the phone, e-mailing us instead will
keep things organized and smooth and allow us to take care
of any problems you may have quickly and efficiently. We'll
be sure to address any e-mails we receive, from all fans everywhere
who have purchased a set, as quickly as possible in order
to meet your satisfaction.
In addition, we will be manufacturing new packaging over the
next several weeks, returning to the original tray design
from the 10 Best Episode Set. For those of you who require
a set of packaging due to the protrusions on the trays being
critically problematic, we will also EXCHANGE THE TRAY SET
AT NO CHARGE TO YOU, DIRECTLY FROM OUR OFFICE upon request.
Based on this exchange replacement policy, we encourage all
fans to continue to purchase existing copies of the He-Man
Season 1 Vol 1 set from stores rather than waiting for the
rolling change sets. Most retailers are currently running
some of the best sale prices at which you will ever be able
to purchase this first Season Volume set. We encourage fans
to take advantage of these prices while they can. Playability
continues to be at 99%+. If any of the discs do not play,
we will replace them. If new packaging is required, we will
provide it to you. Please enjoy the set as-is knowing that
replacement is free of charge from BCI as needed. This way
you can enjoy He-Man now knowing that, for any problems that
occur now or in the future, the exchange replacement will
be easy and quick.
Thanks again, He-Fans,
BCI Eclipse"

With
the release of Wave 2 of the 6" Staction figures from
NECA
and the Four
Horsemen coming up in January (hopefully before the holidays),
Emiliano Santalucia has put together some special wallpapers
using his artwork and NECA's graphics from the back of the
Wave 1 packaging.
Three sizes are available to fit most desktop dimensions.
Please let us know if you like 'em! If we get enough responses,
we may put the Wave 2 wallpaper before Wave 2 even hits the
stores. Click
on this link to preorder Wave 2 of the 6" Stactions and
support He-Man.org at the same time!

BCI
Eclipse has sent info along about which stores will carry
the Season 1 Volume 1 release of the classic Masters of the
Universe cartoon on DVD, which will hit stores on Tuesday,
October 18th!
And, if you'd like to help support He-Man.org with your purchase,
you can order it directly from Amazon via the banner ad above!
All
retailers below will be selling the 6-disc Digi-pack collectors
version. The “slim-pack” release was cancelled.
United
States
Best Buy – He-Man will be advertised
in their Sunday Circular on October 16. Best Buy will have
plenty of stock this time, as they have bought almost twice
what they bought on the 10 Best episode set.
Target – this time, Target will also be advertising
He-Man in their Sunday Circular on October 16. They should
have plenty in stock.
Wal-Mart – Wal-Mart bought the most of any
retailer, so they should have plenty. They will have lots
of them!
Musicland (Media Play, Suncoast Movie Company)
– SPECIAL OFFER! SPECIAL OFFER! The first
5,000 copies of He-Man Season 1 Vol. 1 at Media Play and
Suncoast come with a limited edition “mini-cel”,
FREE with purchase! If you want one of these, Media Play
and Suncoast are the only place to get one.
Costco – for the first time, Costco will
be selling He-Man! It will be in the same package as other
retailers, but it also comes in a 12” long outer cardboard
He-Man box...which is a cool collectible in itself. The
ONLY place to get the 12” outer box is Costco.
Transworld (FYE stores) – the FYE stores
will have many more copies of He-Man season 1 vol. 1 then
they did of 10 Best. This should be a good place to find
He-Man.
Circuit City – they will have stock, but
it is not being advertised.
Tower Records/Video – of course BCI's friends
at Tower will have plenty of copies. Not being advertised.
Virgin Megastore – all Virgin stores should
have stock – they are putting it in an ad.
Fred Meyer stores – if you live in the Pacific
northwest, you should be able to get a copy at any Fred
Meyer – they will advertise it.
Hastings – if you live in Texas or any of
their small-town markets, Hastings will have plenty of copies
for you.
Frys
Electronics – although they have not ordered
it yet, BCI expects that all Frys stores will have it by
street date!
Internet
Sites – Amazon.com, Deep Discount DVD.com,
DVD Planet.com, Buy.com, DVD Empire.com have all placed their
orders. Also, Netflix will have plenty of copies for rent!!
Canada
Future
Shop / Best Buy Canada – they have purchased
the most copies of any Canadian retailer and are advertising
it.
Wal-Mart – they should also have plenty of
stock.
HMV – they have also ordered lots of copies.
Blockbuster – they will be in stock on street
date.
CD Plus – the entire chain should have plenty.
Costco – they didn’t order a lot, but
they should have it ready to go on street date.
Canadian
Superstore – they have also ordered stock for
street date.
French
Canada – BCI's distributor has ordered product,
but they are unclear as to what retailers it will be in besides
the ones listed above.
