International
Fans of He-Man UNITE!
The most common question we get here at He-Man.org is "When
are they going to ship such and such to my country?"
And honestly, we don't know. We have heard international licensing
begins in 2003. But does this mean you will GET
the cartoon, comic, and toys in 2003? Not necessarily.
So it is up to you, the fan, to voice your opinion.
Do you want the new cartoon from Mike Young Productions???
Do you want the new comic from Image Comics???
And above all else, do you want the new toys from Mattel???
Then YOU need to make sure it happens!!!
to see Mattel
contact information for your country or the country nearest
you.
And don't stop there! Contact Mattel
US and let them know too! They may be able to help!
And make sure you contact them! Not next month, not the end
of the week, contact them TODAY!!!
We're serious. You need to pick up that phone, write that
letter, and do it NOW!
(local business hours apply, of course)
Don't sit there any say "Oh, well, they won't listen
to me" or "Other fans will do it, I don't
need to." NO!
If you are a fan or collector or even a retailer, and you
want the cartoon, and you want the comic, and you want the
toys, then you need to get up off your butt and make the effort
to contact Mattel
and voice your opinion! We're serious!
Because if you don't, and you have to continue to wait while
the fans in the US enjoy the awesome new cartoon, the spectacular
new comic, and the outstanding new toys, then you should hang
your head in shame and lock yourself in Skeletor's dungeon!
And don't stop there! Make sure friends and family do the
same! Post this on your website! Spread the word!
Call
or write Mattel
TODAY and say: "I want the new cartoon now! I want the comic from
Image Comics now! And I want the new toys NOW!"
Well, um, do it a tad more politely than that, please. Why are you still reading this? Get to it! It's your
DUTY as a fan!

cartoon that were used to help maintain a consistent likeness
between the old and the new canons.
Now Zadoc and Busta will lend their reviewing
talents to the new cartoon as well! It just keeps on getting
better!
But that's not all. He-Man.org has a few great clips

Mattel
passed on the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Animated
Series previews clips played at the San
Diego Comic Con to us. And He-Man.org is glad to
pass them on to you!
At
the San
Diego Comic Con discussion panel regarding He-Man
and the Masters of the Universe, it was announced that
both the old and new series will be making their way to DVD.
The new MotU series will be available with Dolby Digital 5.1
surround sound and 16X9 wide screen viewing.
Additionally,
it was confirmed that Cam Clarke will indeed be the
new voice of both Prince Adam and He-Man. Cringer
and Battle Cat will not be able to speak in the new
series.
Hordak
is a strong possibility for the new cartoon, and King Hiss
will play an important role in the story.
Many
of the stories will focus on our heros coping with their powers;
(i.e., Mekanek dealing with his ability to extend his
neck, and Prince Adam dealing with suddenly being able
to become He-Man).
Canadian
fans can rejoice, as the Canadian station YTV
will be airing the new He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
cartoon series in September. No exact dates have been announced.

Mattel reports: There will be a redesigned 6" He-Man figure released
as a Comic Con exclusive that will be sold for $15.00. Only
1000 of them will be made for the show numbered 1-1000 in
special Comic Con exclusive packaging. No image of the Sorry
I don't have an image of the figure.
The figures have begun hitting stores all over the country
in greater and greater quantities. One of the more common
finds, if you can call any of them common, is of the heroic
and evil air vehicles. Here's a pic from fan Rapid Fire of
the Battle Hawk.
You
may not want to discard your old copies of "The
Diamond Ray of Disappearance" just yet. Several
fans have reported that the video that ships with the silver
Battle Sound He-Man is missing a scene. The scene is: Skeletor tries to zap Orko with the ray, and a vase falls
on his head.
There is also a mysterious gold variation of Battle Sound
He-Man packaged with the classic MOTU episode Dragon Invasion
that has been showing up in stores.
Direct quote from Toy
Fare magazine: "Before the regular series, however, comes the movie.
The first three episodes of the show, like Justice League,
will form a feature length film that will establish the characters,
reveal the origins of Skeletor and He-Man, and set up storylines
that will run throughout the entire series. Counting the three
episode movie, 26 episodes are in development; more episodes
will depend on the show's success". Then later in the
article it continues: "The 90 minute origin movie will
debut on Friday, August 16 at 4:00pm, and will show again
August 17 - 18 and August 30 - September 1. Starting with
Episode 4, new episodes will run every Friday starting September
13, at 6:00 pm, and will show four times a week. By November
1, the show will be on twice a day (except Sundays)."

and exclusive artwork by series artist Emiliano Santalucia!
Copies were also available at the Wizard
World Chicago Comicon over the 4th of July weekend; so
far, fan reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.
Toy
Fare reports that one of the most loved writers of the
classic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon series
has returned to write for the new series! None other than
the great Larry DiTillio, responsible for fan's favorite dragon
Granamyr, has contributed his talents!
Toy
Fare also noted the following info about the animated
series:
Mike Young Productions is keeping the cartoon in the same
style with mix of comedy, drama, and two fisted action.
In the animated feature (the first three episodes) we discover
the origins of He-Man and Skeletor. Skeletor's origin is revealed
in two parts in episodes 1 and 3. The second facet of Skeletor's
origin in episode 3 should be an unexpected new twist for
MOTU fans.
Prince Adam goes through a total change when becoming He-man.
Unlike the original show, Adam is no longer a purple-clad,
pale version of He-Man, rather he is a much smaller young
man. He will also go through a series of personal struggles
that will further develop his character.
Episode titles for the new series: "Ties that Bind", "The Courage of Adam"
The Sorceress is in every episode
Expect to also see: Man-At-Arms, Orko, Teela, Mekaneck, Stratos, Ram Man,
Buzz Off, King Randor and Queen Marlena, Evil-Lyn, Tri-Klops,
Clawful, Beastman, Whiplash and Trap Jaw.
They also state that Mattel
will offer an exclusive repainted figure at Mattel's booth
at the San
Diego Comicon.
Showing up in stores now is a Masters of the Universe Hot
Wheels car from Mattel's oversized "Monster Jam"
series. The car features He-Man.
The new toys are showing up more and more around the US and
Canada. Amazon.com
has the new MOTU toys for pre-order. All six of the regular
figures have been spotted except for Merman. Also spotted
have been Battle-Cat, Panthor, the two deluxe figures, and
both heroic and evil land and air vehicles.

Things
continue to pick up steam with the debut of the new toy line
and cartoon series right around the corner.
TDK
Interactive has announced plans for a brand new video
game based on the new Masters of the Universe toy line!
New
games will be created for Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft gaming
consoles as well as for the PC.
Fans
had a chance to ask Mattel questions about upcoming plans
for the Masters of the Universe.
Jeremy
Padawer of Mattel's Entertainment Marketing was happy to provide
the answers:
"Hi
fans! It's great to hear from you. We sincerely appreciate
the fantastic collector community on He-man.org. I am a frequent
reader of the fan
forum. The cumulative knowledge of the original show and
toy line on He-man.org is so rich. I am sure that some of
the greatest Masters of the Universe fans in the world are
He-man.org
forum regulars. Now on to the questions!"
1.
What are the exact release dates of the figures for all waves,
domestic and international for 2002 and possibly 2003?
"For
2002, we are releasing 2 waves of heroic warriors and 1 wave
of evil enemies. Watch for wave 1 heroic/evil to hit the stores
in mid-July and wave 2 to follow up in mid to late September."
2. Are there any plans for additional playsets or vehicles,
and why the 2004 release on Snake Mountain?
"There
are absolutely plans for additional playsets and vehicles.
Watch for them in 2003! Unfortunately, I cannot speak about
2004 releases at this time. Sorry!"
3.
Any chance of reviving the Commemorative Series rereleases
and unproduced figures like Eldor and He-Ro, or are they gone
for good?
"
Yes, there is always a possibility and we are re-visiting
those opportunities now."
4. Will there ever be minicomics for the toys like the
original line?
"Great
question. Minicomics will not appear in the Fall 2002 line.
We are planning to release a limited edition comic this year
to be distributed with product at a major retailer! Watch
for this release sometime this Fall. The comic looks fantastic."
5. What is the detailed plot and voice actor roster for
the new cartoon, and when might we see sample test shots,
sample animation, characters sketches, etc?Ê
"The
first image has been released to potential licensees/retailers
in a publication entitled License! I believe License! is available
on select newsstands. And, we will have a great deal of material
at Comic-Con in San Diego (Aug 1st - 4th). We hope to see
you all there!"
6. Are there any plans to release the old cartoon series,
with possibility of a DVD collection?
"Nothing
in the works for now - We will keep you updated on issues
like this in the future."
"Watch
for Mastersoftheuniverse.com
to launch in July/August, with new information on exciting
products and promotions geared toward both children and collectors."
8. How does Mattel feel about He-Man's successful return
in a time when the 80's resurgence is large, including new
toys from G.I. Joe and Transformers?
"The
timing just could not be better. As you know, we did not rush
back into the Masters of the Universe series - this has been
in the works for a long time, and we have been extremely careful
to deliver a great product that you can be proud of. The fact
that vintage 80's animation/toys are in vogue is a bonus.
But, let me be very clear, the product and entertainment will
stand on its own.Ê This is one sequel that will not let you
down."
9. Has Mattel considered doing a He-Man.org or other form
ofexclusive figure?
"While
there are no current plans for a He-Man.org figure, we have
several collector initiatives for Fall 2002. Watch for variant
figures in both waves of Fall 2002 as well as an exclusive,
extremely limited edition Comic-Con He-Man figure."
10. Are there plans for the return of She-Ra in her own
toyline/cartoon, and if not, will she be included in the new
MOTU?
"I
often ask friends and colleagues in their twenties and thirties
to list personal memories from the Masters' series. The list
generally comes back in the following order:"
1) He-Man
2) "By the Power of Grayskull!"
3) "I have the POWER!"
4) She-Ra
5) That little guy... what was his name??
"While She-Ra will not appear in the entertainment or
product line in 2002, I would never count out She-Ra!"
11. Is it true Mattel may release special collector's editions
of the figures as 2-up statues and/or with the original Four
Horsemen design that included more articulation?
"As
you might know, we released a 2-up He-Man at Comic-Con last
year. The figure went over very well with the collector community.
There are no plans for 2-up figures in 2002."
12. What sort of licensing is Mattel planning?
"Our
licensing plans will be released at the upcoming New York
licsensing show, in June. I will be able to comment soon after
that time."
"Thank
you again for your questions and all of your support! We will
do our best to maintain a monthly dialog regarding He-Man
and the Masters of the Universe. We are so close to zero hour
on the launch, and we can feel your excitement.Ê In the meantime,
we'll be reading your posts..."
