I was about four years old my grandma bought me a gift. It
was a toy named He-Man. He had armor and a sword. My brother
got Skeletor. We played with those for years. We loved them
so much we asked for more. Every store, or market I went to
I had to search for He-Man action figures. I got Adam, Man-At-Arms,
Moss Man, and my favorite villian, Beast Man all before I
was in the first grade.
brother got Hordak, another Beast Man, and Castle Grayskull.
We got more and more toys. We had two horses, He-Man's tiger,
three other vehicles, all of Skeletor's and Hordak's minions
(except Evil-Lyn), and most of He-Man's pals. We staged great
battles that would cover the whole house, and take up most
of the day. He-Man had a perfect winning streak, but something
was missing. At a rummage sale, someone was throwing out what
I needed. Someone for He-Man to love, Teela.
day I was watching TV, but nothing good was on, since they
took off Masters of the Universe. Suddenly, I caught the previews
for what was coming on next, Masters of the Universe the movie!
I ran and got a tape to record it. It was pretty cool.
I would be criticized if I played with He-Man toys. I say
the heck with it. Once in a while I'm tempted to get in touch
with my roots. He-Man and his many adventures are forgotten
in my town. I alone remember the best toy, comic character,
cartoon character, book character, movie star, and Master
of the Universe. I miss the days of He-Man. I'm keeping all
of my items for my children and grandchildren when the time
comes for them. I won't let the legacy be forgotten. I fear
I will never again hear the the voice of Adam when he raises
his sword, and says "I have the power, of Grayskull!"
