story 2: "The Ancient Elements"
A brand new story. He-Man, Buzz-Off and Snout Spout
are visiting a fishing town called Nicia. Secretly they
are there because the waters seem to be raising abnormally
high. As they take a tour of the town, He-Man feels
the Sorceress contacting him, and goes to a private
place so he can communicate with her. She tells him
that there has been a change in the magical field around
Eternia, and there is a great danger that involves the
elements of earth, water, fire and air. Before she can
tell him any more, her power begins to fade. He-Man
goes back to warn Buzz-Off and Snout Spout, but just
theb a huge tidal wave heads towards the town. Buzz-Off
lifts He-Man into the air, and He-Man fires a bolt down
with his sword, creating a trench in the ground, which
absorbs the energy from the wave, saving Nicia. Buzz-Off
brings He-Man back to land and tells him that there
are icebergs some distance from the mainlands, and their
melting waters are cauing the sea to rise. He-Man contacts
Man-At-Arms and he comes along with some Jet Sleds.
They reach the icebergs and start pulling them together,
and Man-At-Arms uses a rocket engine to connect the
icebergs together. He-Man and Snout Spout then fly off
on Jet Sleds to find the source of the melting ice,
and they come across a huge jet of flame, with Zoar
trapped inside in a cage! As they get closer, they see
that the jet of flame is made out of thousands of small
flame creatures, called Fire Spites. At first they start
to fight, but then one of the Fire Sprites explains
that their planet, Incendria, was once part of a sun
in the Korlite Galaxy, but the world was torn out of
its position and began to cool down and was no longer
hot enough for the Fire Sprites. A strange cloud then
appeared on their world that prevented their fires from
burning there, so they escaped to Eternia, where the
air supports their flame. They set Zoar free and He-Man
goes to Incendria, where some strange Gem men take him
to their Queen, Neja. Neja is a beautiful young woman,
who seems to be fading- and the gem men believed that
He-Man may be her long lost husband, Akra. Neja explains
that her and her servants are passing through Incendria
on their journey to the Nightworld. They come from the
world Majesta, which was attacked by the evil sorcerer
Wraithbinder (previously seen in the regular magazine,
issue #33). Neja had defeated him, but he formed the
cloud on entropy (which had drained the energy for the
Fire Sprites) to make her fade, and banished her husband,
Akra, to the Nightworld. She must find Akra again so
the curse will be lifted. He-Man says he can help her,
and she can help him to find the Fire Sprites a new
place to live. He returns to Eternia, explains to the
Fire Sprites what happened to their world, and tells
them they can live on Eternia's sun. The Sorceress,
and Queen Neja from the other side of the portal, use
their magic to transport the Fire Sprites to the sun,
then The Sorceress travels to the Nightworld to rescue
Akra. He-Man goes back to Incendria and tells Queen
Neja that the Sorceress is rescuing Akra. Akra and Zoar
then appear before them, the effects of the cloud wear
off, bringing Neja to full view again, and she thanks
He-Man and Zoar before they return to Eternia.
