of the Universe Magazine
UK. Issue #72,
last issue of the regular MOTU comic series- from then
on, readers could follow He-Man's adventures in the
monthly Adventure magazine.
Orko tries to play kickball in this issue's comedy strip...
which proves to be pretty hard for him, as his legs
aren't long enough!
Story 1: "Island of Terror"
Adam and Teela are sailing along the river, when Orko
warns them that Eternia is under attack! Adam goes and
changes into He-Man, then joins the other warriors.
They have sensed that there is a danger but they cannot
pick it up- then Stratos finds it- in the form of a
floating island in the sky! Skeletor and Evil-Lyn are
on the island, and as the heroic warriors land, they
open up a trap, and they all fall down towards a pit
of Stalagmites! (cont'd in next part)
The last Master Mail ever contains a remarkably interesting
question, which is extremely well-suited to the last
one ever..... Is Zodac good or evil? Yawn. Someone else
asks if there are weathermen on Eternia, and the response
is that there are, and the most famous is called Mikhail
Pisces! This joke will only be amusing towards people
in the UK, since the name 'Mikhail Pisces' is obviously
a pun on the UK TV weatherman Michael Fish!
Story 2: "Island of Terror", Cont'd
As He-Man and Teela fall towards the stalagmites, Stratos
uses his flying power to save them. They investigate
an opening in the rock face, which leads to molten lava!
But He-Man blasts a hole in the ceiling, leading them
upwards, back onto the surface. Skeletor tricks them
by creating snow to fa ll on the island, blinding them-
but just then, meteors fall, turning out to be the Rock
People! They are then attacked by a Slugadon, but they
use their combined power to defeat it. so Skeletor sets
the island to spin in the sky..... (cont'd in next part)
Story 3: "Island of Terror", Cont'd
The heroic warriors realize the floating island is heading
towards Eternos, so they send some Rock People off to
warn the people of Eternos of the approaching danger.
But then, suddenly, the island starts floating in the
opposite direction- it was only a trick to divide their
forces! It lands in the Eternian ocean, heading towards
a whirlpool! But the warriors quickly make it to a Wind
Raider and blast off just as Skeletor and Evil-Lyn also
escape. The heroic warriors head back to Eternos. The
next day, Teela goes for another sail on the river...
with He-Man , this time- Adam is apparently feeling
dizzy! After all the hassle she's given Adam throughout
the comic series, Teela finishes off the last issue
with a classic line- "I wish he could be as brave
as you are, He-Man... but I guess it's asking too much!"
it was a normal issue it probably wouldn't have got
that, but since it's the last it just feels really special-
the action feels like a real celebration of the 72 issues
we've loved in this comic series! And Teela and He-Man
seem much closer here- this is an excellent way to end
the comic series!)
