He-Man

Accessories: axe, sword, shield, removable armor

Action feature: Twist his waist to make him punch

Articulation: Swivel joints at neck, waist, and wrists; ball-joints at the shoulders and hips

Description: He's the man. No, really - he's THE man. The Strongest Man in the Universe. The Hero of Eternia, and all that. And here's a great plastic ode to our favorite hero. The sculpting (by the Four Horsemen design group) is outstanding. The waist-twisting punch action works well. The hilt of the Power Sword can rotate, which apparently plays a part in how Prince Adam becomes He-Man.

Man-At-Arms

Accessories: mace, arm-mounted gun (with firing missile), removable armor

Action features: firing missile, mace-bashing action

Articulation: Swivel joints at neck, waist, and wrists; ball-joints at the shoulders and hips

Description: Another top-notch effort from the Four Horsemen design team. One (tiny) problem with the sculpt: the head seems a bit small, though that may be a result of the helmet. Otherwise a great new look for Eternos's official protector (aside from He-Man, of course). This version of Man-At-Arms sports a mustache, which was noticeably absent from the original figure. Push the button on his back and he raises his arm; let go and he drops it, bashing anything in his way.

Stratos

Accessories: missiles (2)

Action feature: flapping wings

Articulation: Swivel joints at neck, waist, and wrists; ball-joints at the hips; swivel joints at the shoulders (to facilitate flapping action); swivel joints at the elbows; swivel joints on his "wings"

Description: Stratos was always a weird design - he's a furry man with feathers and a vaguely monkey-ish face. The Four Horsemen design team have played up Stratos's simian anatomy, making him look like one of the Wicked Witch's flying monkeys - if he took steroids and had a jetpack, that is. His wings fold out from his arms and they "flap" when a button is pressed on his jetpack. He can also fire two missiles from his backpack. It's a shame he doesn't have ball-joint shoulders, but the extra elbow articulation makes up for it a bit.

Skeletor

Accessories: Havoc Staff, double-bladed sword, removable armor

Action feature: swings sword up and down

Articulation: Swivel joints at neck, waist, and wrists; ball-joints at the shoulders and hips

Description: The Four Horsemen design team's pedigree as sculptors for McFarlane Toys' "Spawn" line shows in this amazingly evil-looking figure. Skeletor's face is intricately detailed, and even features a pair of fangs. His armor is just as detailed. His sword, which comes apart, was originally intended to be the new Power Sword (with the good and evil halves) until Mattel nixed the idea. Press the button on his back and he waves his sword up and down. In my opinion, the finest of the new sculpts.

Beast Man

Accessories: Whip, removable armor

Action feature: Figure-throwing action

Articulation: Swivel joints at neck, waist, and wrists; ball-joints at the shoulders and hips

Description: By far the largest of the new figures, Beast Man is one chunky piece of plastic. The Four Horsemen design team have emphasized his gorilla-like attributes. He still retains that classic white face with the blue paint under his eyes, though. His action feature is fun: stick a figure in his hands and then press the button on his back and he'll slam it to the ground. If I were Skeletor, I'd think twice about insulting this Beast Man.

Mer-Man

Accessories: sword, trident, removable armor

Action feature: trident-jabbing/sword-thrusting action

Articulation: Articulation: Swivel joints at neck, waist, and wrists; ball-joints at the shoulders and hips; swivel joints at the elbows (to facilitate jabbing action)

Description: Ah, Mer-Man. Fishiest of the Skeletor henchmen. Ol' Mer-Man finally has a decent sculpt, so he actually looks kind of fish-like. Webbed feet and hands add to the overall fishy look. It's a shame his armor is bronze - it doesn't go with the look of the figure at all, especially considering his yellow gauntlets and greaves. The trident and the sword are neat, though, and the jabbing action is fun. Take that!

Battle Cat

Accessories: mask, claw armor, battle saddle, saddle guns (2), missiles (2)

Action feature: push button for claw slashin', jaw smashin' action!

Articulation: Swivel joints at 3 legs, and tail

Description: a heavy, sturdy figure with a great action feature. Strong simple details on the sculpt. The saddle is held on by sticking its swivel in a hole at the bottom of the cat. The claw armor does not fit on paws properly and can fall off easily. Jaw can be kept open by pushing down button, holding, then moving leg back down to a standing position. Missiles and parts of saddle guns are florescent orange; they don't really match or complement the rest of Battle Cat's coloring.

----
Panthor

Accessories: battle saddle, saddle gun with five-warhead missile, battle rocket with missile

Action feature: push button for claw slashin', jaw smashin' action!

Articulation: Swivel joints at 3 legs, and tail

Description: A heavy, sturdy figure with a great action feature. Figure is covered in purple velvet fur. The saddle is held on like the classic Panthor's, with a harnessing strap at the bottom of the cat. The jaw can be kept open by pushing down button, holding, then moving the leg back down to a standing position. The missiles and saddle guns are not as out of place as Battle Cat's, but the figure looks better without them. Unlike the classic cats, Panthor has his own head sculpt. His beady white eyes are especially eerie under his purple fur brow.

Battle Sound He-Man

Accessories: Power Sword, shield, axe, and removable shoulder piece/sword holder. Also comes packaged with a commemorative video: "The Diamond Ray of Disappearance.

Action Feature: Twist his waist for a power punch and the electronic sound of swords clashing. Press a small button on the right side of his armor and he says "I HAVE THE POWER", followed by the same sound of swords clashing. Sounds come from a speaker on the figure's back.

Articulation: Swivel joints at neck, waist, and wrists; ball joints at the shoulders and hips.

Description: Much like the regular He-Man, Battle Sound He-Man has a very good sculpt. His removable shoulder piece has chains which rest on his chest. Each of the weapons and the shield are a slightly different shade of plastic and paint than those that come with the regular He-Man. He also has the tradional furry loincloth, but it is not removable. The twisting waist works great and it is great fun to hear the classic voice of He-Man screaming out his favorite line. His battery pack is located on the backside of his torso and the battery cover is locked into place with a tiny screw. The batteries can be replaced.

Variant information: There is a variant of this figure with gold chest armor as opposed to silver, and silver chains as opposed to gold. Also, the variant figure comes with a different episode of the show, "The Dragon Invasion."

Battle Sound Skeletor

Accessories: Havoc Staff, two-part Sword, removable shoulder piece. He is packaged with the commemorative video "The Problem With Power".

Action Feature: Twist his waist for a power punch and the electronic sound of swords clashing. Press a small button on the right side of his armor and he says "ETERNIA WILL BE MINE! HAHAHAHA" followed by the same sound of clashing swords. Sounds come from a speaker on his back.

Articulation: Swivel joints at neck, waist, and wrists; ball joints at the shoulders and hips.

Description: Battle Sound Skeletor sports another wonderful sculpt by the Four Horsemen. In addition to his normal purple hood, this figure has an attached headpiece with five metallic copper colored horns protruding. His shoulder piece has additional horns. His armor is awesome to behold--a metallic red color which seems to be sculpted in the image of Hordak's face. Just like Battle Sound He-man, Battle Sound Skeletor has a battery pack on his back side with a removable battery cover kept in place by a screw. The extravagant armor, shoulder piece and head piece, combined with his menacing voice make this figure incredible.

Battle Hawk

Accessories: This "flying" vehicle comes with two missile launchers which mount to the inside of the front wings/claws, and four small missiles, so there are several extras if you lose a couple.

Action Features: The two missile launchers are spring-loaded to fire the missiles, which is done by pressing a small button on the bottom of the launcher. The back wings are the most remarkable part of this vehicle. When it is in "normal" mode, the wings are pulled back and close, hiding the missiles between the top and bottom portion of the wings. When pulled back into this position, they lock into place. To change Battle Hawk into Battle Mode, press down on the tail piece of the vehicle; the rear wings spring forward, opening up to blast He-Man's enemies.

Articulation: Battle Hawk sits on two taloned legs which can be used to rotate the vehicle forward or back. It does not swivel from side to side. The front wings/claws can be rotated either up or down, as can the missile launchers, giving the vehicle wonderful range of directions in which it can fire. In order to seat a figure in the Battle Hawk, and have it hold the handles, the wings/claws must be rotated upward to where they are covering the sides of the bird's face. Nevertheless, the launchers can be rotated to fire straight ahead. In addition to the back wings rotating into their locked position, they can also be raised up so that they are in a vertical position.

Description: The Battle Hawk is labeled as He-Man's Assault Vehicle. It lives up to its name; it's a great war machine in which to do battle and a fun toy. The bright colors and design make it a perfect fit into the MOTU universe.

----
Terrordactyl

Accessories: This "flying" vehicle comes with only one missile launcher, which is located in a hidden compartment on the bird's neck. It comes with four missiles which are fired by pressing a small button on the side of the launcher. It also comes with a seat belt.

Action Features: There are three hidden sections on the Terrordactyl, all of which contain guns. Pressing the vehicle's tail causes these compartments to pop open, putting the vehicle into "attack" mode. The beak of the bird is spring-loaded; when the back of the head is pressed, the beak opens and yet another gun is revealed.

Articulation: Like the Battle Hawk, the Terrordactyl sits on two taloned legs which can be used to rotate the vehicle forward or backward. The ends of the wings can be folded up or down.

Description: The Terrordactyl has a number of clean lines, much like the Battle Hawk, but its frame is lined with bullet holes and other damage - signs that it has been through many battles. Though it has a bit less articulation than its heroic counterpart, it has many more guns. Overall, it's an excellent vehicle for the Overlord of Evil - and a fun toy.
